How may pricing differ per gender, color and standard?

Currently our pricing starts at $3000 and goes up to $3800 per kitten. Our prices mostly vary per color and standard, rather than gender. Instead of gender, due to often having litters with males and females equivalent in size---which is generally the only gender-related difference between the two---we charge more based on overall standards.

More common colors such as black tabby, blue tabby and tortie will typically be priced lower than colors with higher demand such as red, white, smoke or torbie.

Blue/odd eyes, as well as polydactyl (if ever added to our cattery) will be priced higher alongside standard and color.

Is the $500 deposit required?

Yes, the deposit is required for any kittens not yet ready to go home.

The only exception would be if a kitten is ready to be picked up anytime, as it wouldn't require holding the kitten until the go-home date.

Question 3

Do you offer breeding or show rights?

Accepted Answer

Generally, we do not offer breeding rights outside of experienced catteries who established contact with us. We will only consider selling breeding rights to catteries with proper practices, including consistent showing, health testing and care. 
If we ever offer breeding rights, we will be very particular in the standards of the kitten we offer, and likely give little choice outside of overall color and gender preference in the litter to ensure the kitten is fit for breeding. 
Establishing contact early on will ensure we are on the same page as breeders, and also so we do not fix the kitten you are interested in.

If show rights are requested, there is no additional charge, however we may be selective about which kittens are able to show to ensure they abide to standard as best as possible. We will also take personality into account to make sure the events wouldn't be too stressful for them.

Question 4

Can certain terms in the contract be revised?

No, we will not consider any contract revisions. Our contract is written to protect both parties, alongside the kitten itself, with years of experience and revisal giving us the knowledge of what is best for each party.

Question 5

If not on the waitlist, can I still request to reserve a kitten not yet publicly available?

Accepted Answer

No, until the kittens have been offered to and picked by each member on the waitlist, we will not offer reservations of those kittens to the public. Only after each member had made a decision, the kittens will become available.

Question 6

How long may it take to get a kitten if on the waitlist?

Accepted Answer

We cannot give an exact timeframe as it may depend on your preferences. Sometimes the wait can take up to 6 months to a year, especially if your request is very specific, (such as blue/odd eyes, red females, etc.) but generally no more than a couple of months.

What is the priority order?

Our kitten reservation priority order is as follows:
1. CrystalStar ourselves will always have first pick of any litter
2. If sold for breeding, the breeder will get second priority
3. Returning kitty parents will have third priority - entering the waitlist is not required
4. Families interested in duo's get fourth priority as kittens always do better in pairs
5. Lastly, families interested in a single pet get last priority

Waitlist families will follow the same priority, however will still be higher than non-waitlist families.

Things will also never go as first-come, first-serve. We will offer kittens to the families best fitting, no matter what conversation started first.

How can I still get priority if the wait list is closed?

Accepted Answer

Our wait list will be closed only when we believe the wait would start getting too long. If a litter labels the wait list as closed, it means there will likely be no available kittens in that specific litter. Otherwise the wait list will be open nearly always for future litters.

If closed, pre-approved families will have first-pick priority on kittens not reserved by the wait list. If you are interested in a kitten from a posted litter yet the wait list is closed, please still fill out our Guardian Application for future reservation priority.

What goes into reserving a kitten?

We work via a wait list which gets priority pick per litter. Getting on our wait list is quite simple:

1. Fill out the guardian application and be approved

2. Be sent and sign the contract --- completion of the contract will be done after kitten information is filled out by us once a kitten is picked

3. Send the deposit of $500 to reserve your spot

Our wait list is always open to join for future litters, however specific availability and wait time cannot be guaranteed. Our wait list operates by order of joining, however exceptions are often made for specific families. See the FAQ for more info.

Our prices start at $3800, but may go up with specific traits (such as blue eyes) that require extra health testing like a BAER.

Spay/neuter, HCM dna test, parasite testing, microchip, etc. are all included in full price.

First step towards kitten reservation will be completing our Guardian Application Form!

Please keep in mind that this form may ask certain personal questions, such as full names, family information, address, vet information, etc. You are free to be vague with certain answers, however if approved---understand that we will likely ask for more specifications.

Wait list members will have first choice in each new litter. If any kittens don't get reserved by the waitlist, they will become available to the public, and previously approved applicants will have priority over new applicants for publically available kittens.

Lastly, for official reservation, we require a $500 deposit, through Zelle or Venmo. In terms of the waitlist, the deposit will be used to hold your spot and later act as the reservation deposit.
This amount goes into the full kitten price, with the remaining sum due in cash or Zelle at pick up.

After Reservation:

Once a kitten is officially reserved, you will be kept updated on the kitten's growth with occasional pictures and/or videos. At 16 weeks of age, kittens will receive their second shot. Closer to 17 weeks, they will go in for their final vet check, and finally be ready to go home!
